Riot was appointed by the Science Museum Group to raise awareness of legendary locomotive Flying Scotsman’s centenary in February 2023. We curated a calendar of events and media moments – starting in October 2022 with the launch of the centenary events programme at King’s Cross and culminating in a celebration at Edinburgh Waverley in February 2023 – and secured over 1,000 pieces of coverage. Our work contributed to a 10% increase in public awareness of the Flying Scotsman’s centenary (March 2023 YouGov GB Omnibus survey), and our work together continues, with a visit from His Majesty The King and the launch of the Flying Scotsman VR experience at the National Railway Museum in York.
