All aboard! Reopening Station Hall, a beloved exhibition space

The brief

In September 2025, the National Railway Museum (NRM) reopened Station Hall, one of its main gallery spaces. The Grade II listed building had been closed for two years following a £11m renovation and its reopening coincided with the NRM’s 50th anniversary. We were tasked with driving footfall to the museum over the 50th birthday weekend and into the autumn half-term.

Our approach

We worked with the NRM’s expert curatorial team to pull out fascinating Station Hall stories that would capture the attention of national, regional and specialist press, from the significance of a microwave burger box, to poignant photos of the Windrush generation setting off from Waterloo Station, to the life of charity-collecting station dog Laddie.

We commissioned high-impact photography of the newly renovated exhibition space, hosted a media morning to give press an exclusive look at Station Hall, and arranged outside broadcasts with BBC Radio York and BBC Look North on opening day.
